Today’s project is a very easy one, since I had to fit it in while Bennett was asleep. I had been eyeballing a project on Pinterest (stalk my pins here!) for quite some time and it seemed easy enough to complete in a very short amount of time. I am all about pops of color and my favorite color, which you would find throughout my home and my wardrobe, is green.

All you need to pretty up your kitchen counter is your regular old knife block, some paint (I used Acrylic because it is what I had on hand, you could easily use spray paint or another if you’d like), a clean damp towel, paint brushes, and a drop cloth (newspaper or plastic would work).

Step one: Take the knives out of the block and wipe down with a damp towel. If you keep the block next to your stove, it is sure to be a little greasy, so use some dish soap if needed.

Step Two: Once your block is dried, get your paint ready. I wanted a more “apple” green than what I had on hand, so I mixed in some yellow and white. Easy as pie and the perfect shade!

Step Three: Paint. Dry. Repeat. I had to do two coats of paint to make the color even all around. Pay special attention not to clog up your knife slots (that sounds dirty! Meow!) or you will end up with random paint stuck on your knives.

Step Four: Once it is completely dry (I waited a few hours), add your knives and Voila! You have a pretty snazzy knife block.
