If I had to pick one thing that I love most over the course of the holiday season, it would have to be the warm feeling that the cozy decor and lighting brings during the chilly months. To make it feel even more special, I love to DIY as many of those decor items as I can. I am a huge fan of repurposing everyday items. Who says that feeling can’t apply to wedding decor, too? Here are a few ideas that I have come across in the past few weeks. I am swooning over those coffee filter wreaths!

(Directions and photos: The Nesting Place)
These gorgeous coffee filter wreaths are super easy and crazy cheap to make, but don’t they look amazing?! I can imagine dressing it up for different seasons with colorful ribbon, bows, ornaments, etc. I plan to make one this year and will definitely let you know how it goes! Oh, and couldn’t you see this hanging on a chapel door for a beautiful addition to your wedding ceremony decor? How is that for double duty?!

- Cover your cabinets or even your front door with festive paper for an added touch of Jolly this holiday season!
- What do you do with all of those Christmas bulbs that don’t work? Toss them (gently!) into a vase, add a candle and Voila! You have a pretty little centerpiece! Fill a vase with button, coffee beans, floating candles or other small trinkets and this beauty will double duty.
- Kissing balls are always a delightful dose of cheer. Wrap them in a different fabric to hang from lighting fixtures or tent poles and you have a cute and easy way to jazz up unused spaces at your wedding!
- Creating your own holiday (or wedding) banners and typographic signs. Or, you can print this one here!
What holiday DIY projects do you have planned? Share your ideas in the comments so others can see how brilliant you are. The holidays are all about sharing, right?

There are so many ways to create a very unique atmosphere, starting with the decor. Pairing up eclectic pieces is always the quickest route, but you can also group similar items at the center if a table. Below are some of my favorite Anthropolgie Home pieces, that can easily be used for a wedding or event and leave everything looking fabulous.
Photos (Left to Right): Analiese Taper Holder $24, Tea Party Candelabra $398, Analiese Taper Holder $24, Night Lights $58, Checkmate $28, Cigarette Pants – - – Many of these come in sets, so be sure to check out each item.

Who doesn’t love Anthropologie? Have you ever considered it as a wedding shop? One of the best things you can do to create a unique celebration is think outside the box. Starting next week and for the remainder of the year, we will be featuring a few posts about different components that Anthropologie can supply for your big day. Get ready for an overload of awesomeness. If you have seen their window displays, you know exactly what I am saying.
FYI: They aren’t paying me to do this, just thought it would be a great idea. I just love their store this much. I wouldn’t deny a gift certificate though. :)

I must admit, the thought of using balloons in a wedding used to really made me sick to my stomach. Lucky for us, the days of cheesy balloon decor are long gone. Welcome to one of the most fun and playful trends I have seen all year! These toys have been making an appearance in engagement shoots, wedding photos and lots and lots of decor. What brings back childhood memories better than balloons??

I know that nothing can really replace the elegance and the sophistcation of the color black, but I have had more requests for purple inspired events than any other color for 2009. Below are two brand new baords, inspired by two of our very own readers. I hope you enjoy them!

There are so many reasons that I love Autumn and nothing beats a day at the Cider Mill. October in Michigan is usually filled with mild temperatures, warm sunshine, beautiful leaves on the trees and delicious cider and doughnuts. It is a tradition that I think would make for the perfect “theme” behind a wedding day. What would be better than a make-your-own caramel apple bar, or a warm cider based signature drink?
