Flirty at the Fair: The Styling

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

My biggest concern when creating the details of the recent inspiration shoot, was to make it easy to recreate without breaking the bank. So often, inspiration shoots are completely unattainable by the average couple and can lead to frustration and envy. That is why I told all of our vendors to keep it natural, fun and easy! This was especially true with the decor for our fabulously fun shoot.

It might sound strange, but my entire design concept was based on two things. Cotton Candy & our Blue Striped Paper Straws. In order to keep the setting feeling soft and light, I went with a cotton candy pink and a lighter shade of a teal blue. The linens were actually poly cotton with sheer striped overlays. The combination of the two was under $25 per table, which is really good for linen pricing!

For the flowers, I wanted to stick with mainly pink with punches of red. In order to mix it up a bit, I wanted the shades to be darker that the colors in the linens and paper products. I think it meshed beautifully! What do you think?

Now, I am a sucker for a good prop and I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to Terri, the owner of the super cute Frank & Me, in Clarkston, Michigan. While eying the amazing trinkets and vintage items in her shop, I stumbled across a beautiful 1940s smoked glass cake stand, a beautiful pink & gold frame, and the vintage cake server, among other things that I fell in love with. All worked perfectly for the design.

The adorable dress was made by our model, Allison, and the flower hair accessory was made by BlissAccessories! Flowers by Watkins Flowers, creative design and linens supplied by Bliss Weddings & Events. Photography by Nicole Ladonne Photography.

Pretty and Pink

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Pink is one of the most used colors around Valentine’s Day. It is also one of the most common wedding colors! Why not share my love for all things pretty and pink by posting a few of my favorite girly wedding inspiration photos from my travels around the web. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Colorstrology by Pantone

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

I am loving this fun idea sponsored by Pantone. You pick your birth date and it gives you your Colorstrology. I normally don’t fall for this stuff, but I think it was pretty right on. What do you think? This could be a lot of fun for determining the special colors for your wedding or even a birthday party!

colorstrology

For May, I got Bud Green. Green? How did they know?! For the 15th of May, I got Lavender Gray. Pretty combo, if you ask me!

“YOU are a joy to be around, everyone loves you. Creative at just about everything, you will have many choices regarding career and hobbies. Most likely you can sing, dance, or play a musical instrument, and sometimes you can do all three. The challenge comes when you try to integrate the the practical side of your personality with the creative and sensual side of your nature. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with lavender gray helps you stay centered as you find a way to channel your talents into something joyful and lucrative.”

What does your Colorstrology say about you?

An Anthropologie Wedding, Part Three: The Gear

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Shoes are my favorite way to accessorize any ensemble. Whether you like pumps or flats, peep toes or t-straps, your girls will love the idea of a cute shoe to set everything off on the right foot. And what pairs with adorable shoes more than an equally adorable handbag? Anthropologie is an excellent resource for all things girly.

An Anthropologie Wedding, Part One: The Bridesmaids

Monday, December 21st, 2009

I would be willing to bet my money that 99.9% of the time, a bridesmaid gown cannot be worn again. Typical dresses for your ladies are much too formal and always look like a bridesmaid gown, no matter what. Why not do them a favor and open up the box a little. Let them pick a style or color that they like (within reason, if you must control it). Anthropologie has a wide variety of adorable style that will perfectly compliment your wedding style.

Anthropologie Bridesmaids 1Photos (Left to Right): Spirited Away $128, Sterling $168, Curtain Closer $198, Frozen Crystals $178, Granted Wishes $318, Cosgrove $128

An Anthropologie Wedding

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Who doesn’t love Anthropologie? Have you ever considered it as a wedding shop? One of the best things you can do to create a unique celebration is think outside the box. Starting next week and for the remainder of the year, we will be featuring a few posts about different components that Anthropologie can supply for your big day. Get ready for an overload of awesomeness. If you have seen their window displays, you know  exactly what I am saying.

FYI: They aren’t paying me to do this, just thought it would be a great idea. I just love their store this much. I wouldn’t deny a gift certificate though. :)
