A Year Of Colors {April}

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

To me, April means the beginning of spring. What color is better suited for spring than yellow? I am in love with the yellow and black color scheme and I think that it is the perfect contrast for a chic and elegant Spring wedding.

Real Bliss Weddings {Kelly & Brian}

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Another beautiful day and another amazing and adorable couple. I can’t say enough about how cute Kelly & Brian are. Their beautiful wedding really reflected the love and fun personalities that these two have. I had so much fun working with Kelly over the last few months and really enjoyed getting to know her hilarious personality and learning all about her visions for the perfect wedding day. I seriously cracked up at every meeting.

There were a couple tiny issues, but for the most part everything went off without a hitch and all worked out perfectly. Kelly & Brian were all smiles while getting ready, taking pictures and dancing the night away as husband and wife. I am so glad that they chose me to be there and allowed me to share in their special moments. Their friends and family are a blast to be around and really helped make this a memorable event. The only items I had to use from my emergency kit were safety pins, bobby pins, scissors and tylenol! The whole day was laid back and calm and there was very little stress and anxiety. I couldn’t have been happier with how things turned out. The “Old Detroit” theme that the couple chose was perfect. From the photos of old school Detroit celebs, to the old newspaper articles and Detroit landmark table frames… I absolutely loved it and I know the guests did also. Jim Coffman, The Party Doctor, set the mood with some motown cocktail music and a fabulous mix to keep the party going all night.

Thank you so much, Kelly & Brian, for including me in your special day. It was a joy getting to know both of you and I can tell that you are going to have a great life together. I couldn’t imagine either of you finding a better match! I hope you enjoyed your wedding day as much as I did and look forward to hearing about what happens next! Congrats!

Top It Off With Something Fun!

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Most wedding cakes these days are topped with a classic topper. Why not toss the traditional topper out the window and go for something a little more “you”? These are some of my favorite ways to top your cake and exactly where to find them. Try them out! Your guests will love the twist on traditional.

Sweet Lil Cupcakes

Another great way to forgo the traditional white wedding cake is to serve cupcakes to your guests! They are the perfect size and give everyone a chance to taste your different flavors in an affordable and adorable way. These little treats can save you a ton of money and really look great. This trend is definitely catching on and it is clear why. You can even customize each individual cupcake with your monogram or motif. The stands come in a million shapes and sizes, too! Would you serve these adorable desserts to your guests? Many of our Bliss brides & grooms have done this and it always impresses the guests!

If you want to try DIYing your cupcakes, I recommend baking then freezing so they don’t go bad while you wait for the rest to cook. There are a bunch of places where you can order cupcake stands and adorable decor. Try weddingfads.com for some unique ideas and supplies. Ebay is another really great resource! Do you have photos of Real Cupcake Weddings? Share them with us (email us amanda@yourblissweddings.com) and we will post them on our blog!

Break The Traditions: Week One {Cakes}

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Week one of our Break The Traditions Month is all about cakes! Today I am featuring photos of not-so traditional wedding cakes. One of the easiest ways to incorporate your personality into your wedding is the cake. If you can dream it, someone out there sure can make it! While the following cakes may not be your personal style (they aren’t really mine either), they definitely prove that wide imaginations can create anything. It may not be your dream to have a wedding cake that looks like you (I don’t think I could eat a piece of cake that looks like my face!), but why not go for something nontraditional? Add some color, your monogram, or even your theme and watch your cake come to life.

Now, here are some cakes that I think give that special day a taste all it’s own. I am obsessed with color, so these are some of my favorites. They are all a twist of tradition mixed with unconventional. Who needs white anyway? Try a different shape, add some dimension or even try different textures.
